Join the project
There are many ways to get involved with Alnarp’s Farm and we are always open to new people joining the project! One of the great pleasures of this farm is that it is made up of wonderful, motivated and passionate individuals who want to learn about growing food in a better way. Whether you are a student, researcher, local resident or just keen to learn more about producing sustainable food, you are welcome!
Member
If you want to participate in and contribute towards building a more socially and environmentally sustainable food system, becoming a member of Alnarp’s Farm is a great opportunity to do so. We encourage anyone with an interest in the farm to become a member, whether you are a student or staff member at SLU, like to buy our tasty veggies, or just want to support the project and its aims. As a member, you have the right to attend our Annual General Meetings and vote on important matters such as our budget allocation and seasonal planning. You will also receive exclusive invitations to free harvest parties and priority notice of educational workshops organised by the farm. If you aren’t able to work on the farm but still want to be involved somehow, membership is a great option for you.
Volunteer
Learn how to grow food! Volunteers are instrumental in the running of Alnarp’s Farm. You will gain some practical skills on vegetable growing, work in a fun environment and get to take home some fresh veggies from the farm! You can volunteer at the farm either on one of the harvest days (in season) on Wednesday and, or the field work day on Saturday There is no regular commitment as a volunteer, as the idea is to give the opportunity to as many people as possible to learn about growing food. Contact us if you would like to be added to the volunteer mailing list.
Become an intern
Want to take your learning to the next level and earn academic credits by working on the farm?
We offer internship programs all year round for those who want a fully immersive experience of working on the farm. If you are a student at SLU, we particularly encourage you to take an internship program as a complement to your course. The practical skills and experience that you will gain at Alnarp’s Farm will be a fantastic asset to you as you pursue your studies related to food and agriculture.
Become a farm custodian
If you’ve volunteered on Alnarp’s Farm before and want to commit to helping out on a regular basis, you can join the team as a farm custodian. You will agree on a regular working spot on the farm and be a valued member of our lovely team. As a farm custodian, you will be a part of the daily actions and decision-making while you are on the field, and it is the best way to learn the most from your local farm. You commit to at least a semester of activity and on completion of the experience you will receive a certificate from Alnarp’s Farm to demonstrate the skills you have gained.
